NOURISH ECO VILLAGE
Place of Ubuntu

The Nourish Eco Village
The Eco Village is more than a delivery platform. It’s a community-run hub where we can add smaller, high-impact projects that strengthen trust and build a solid foundation with each community we serve. Every addition is guided by a community-specific needs assessment and close relationships between Nourish, local leadership, and Tribal Authorities.
THE ECO VILLAGE MODEL AND OUTREACH
Nourish implements its projects in education, enterprise and empowerment in two ways
- Through a physical space where people can come together to learn, eat, grow and be nourished
- In the community: outreach into villages bordering the region’s game reserves, where access to basic resources is limited
WHAT WE DO
Bridging the Gap between Communities and Conservation
We focus on programming in education, enterprise, and ecotourism through an inclusive, whole-community approach.
Our methodology includes grassroots community engagement. Our goal is simple: empower change.

EDUCATION
An educational pathway from cradle-to-career applied with a lens of economic, environmental and social sustainability and regeneration.
Our pathway is focused on growing people who are confident, well-rounded and have an authentic connection and understanding of the environment and natural heritage.
Our aim is to create opportunities where individuals can make decisions about their own future, career and the environment they live in.

ENTERPRISE
Through this program, we build the skills and confidence young adults need to create sustainable, green-focused enterprises.
As a result, youth in communities bordering wildlife reserves can enter, thrive in, and grow their local economies.

TOURISM
Tours of the Eco Village and surrounding villages offer an authentic community experience while supporting Nourish and local livelihoods—ensuring communities benefit.
We are proud to work with Travelife and Fair Trade Tourism to ensure that our tourism impact is meaningful and beneficial to people and the environment.

ECO VILLAGE PROJECTS
Complementary to our core programs, these projects deepen community ties and invite targeted donor support.

Permaculture & Agroecology
We create food security through the establishment of a vegetable garden, incorporating permaculture principles such as composting, mulching and companion planting to inspire the community and supply key vegetables
Feeding Scheme
Some children only receive a small meal as part of their schools feeding program, so by afternoon they are hungry, listless and unable to study. Thus the Nourish feeding scheme provides a nutritious, warm meal daily to 120 children
Seedlings
Growing vegetable seedlings, and learning to propagate vegetables is an important part of sustainable farming. We grow tree seedlings & seedlings for our food security garden, as well as schools and preschools vegetable gardens.
Chicken Farm
Our goal of farming chickens is to not only have a protein source for our feeding scheme, but also to create income generation for Nourish and our business incubator by selling surplus eggs and chickens, while using chicken manure as compost for the garden.
Hydroponics
Developing a water-wise agricultural project as way to not only grow food for our Eco Village, but also provide training in new and sustainable farming techniques.
Ubuntu Girls Club
We believe every girl has the right to develop confidence, have positive self esteem and feel safe in her village. Through this project we create a space where girls are supported through a series of programs around sexual health, menstruation, confidence and self-defense.
Recycling
We love recycling so much we've even turned it into a competition for our young ones! Plogging for Prizes!
Crafts Center
Some of our recycling even gets turned into beautiful crafts, from jewelry to candleholders, we make the perfect gifts for visits to the region!
Computer Lab
Developing computer skills at an early age is vital to be able to gain employment in the contemporary world we live in, so we have regular drop-in days for children and teens to learn and explore their skills.
Thrift Shop
We receive a lot of donations at the Eco Village that we sell at a very low price through our Thrift Shop. Young people also have the option of bringing a bag of recycling to the Eco Village that they can then swap for a toy
Animal Outreach
Our team goes on daily visits into the neighbouring village to assess health issue for pets, and spread general awareness and education around good animal care and welfare.
Village Market
Eco Villages are stocked with amazing crafts, local ingredients and delicious coffee, perfect for a day of shopping!

NOURISH
Where We Operate
Nourish Eco Villages are strategically located along the borders of South Africa’s iconic protected areas, including Kruger National Park, Thornybush Game Reserve, Manyeleti Game Reserve, and the Sabi Sand Nature Reserve.
These regions are more than biodiversity hotspots; they are home to rural communities living close to conservation zones, where poverty, unemployment, and human wildlife conflict are part of daily life.
Our three Eco Villages are Sigagule, Makrepeni, and Metsi, located in boundary communities where livelihoods and landscapes are closely intertwined. This positioning places Nourish at the center of a careful balance between social development and environmental stewardship. By embedding in these communities, we help bridge the gap between people and protected areas, creating meaningful opportunities for education, employment, and empowerment while strengthening connections to conservation.
Our Eco Villages
Sigagule (near Orpen Gate, Kruger National Park)
Makrepeni (near Gowrie Gate, Sabi Sand)
Metsi (near Newington Gate, Sabi Sand).
Metsi is in early development, with broader rollout planned from 2026 onward.
Strategic governance is provided by Boards of Directors in South Africa, the United States, and Canada.
